Essential Job Functions

As a Design Consultant, you will guide buyers through the complete home customization process. This includes leading one-on-one design appointments, helping customers select finishes and features, and facilitating a warm, personalized experience. You will ensure all design selections are documented accurately, working closely with internal teams to confirm that designs are buildable and aligned with the company’s construction standards.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead full-day design appointments, helping buyers choose finishes, layouts, and upgrades that reflect their personal style.
  • Provide knowledgeable, empathetic guidance to customers throughout the design process in a pressure-free, service-oriented setting.
  • Accurately complete and manage all design selections and documentation using tools such as PDF Viewer and digital selection software.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Construction, Purchasing, and Customer Experience Associates to ensure clarity and feasibility of selections.
  • Manage pre-build troubleshooting or design-related questions, ensuring issues are resolved with professionalism and urgency.
  • Maintain a warm, high-touch studio atmosphere, offering hospitality and emotional support to customers as they make important decisions.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions to stay current on products, customer engagement practices, and company standards.
  • Support a team-first environment by collaborating with Design Coordinators and contributing to shared goals and studio performance.

Position Qualifications

  • Educational background or degree in design-related fields such as interior design, fashion, or visual merchandising is preferred.
  • Prior experience in kitchen/bath design, cabinet shops, home décor, or design center environments is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with a natural ability to present ideas clearly and guide client decisions.
  • Confidence in reading and interpreting floor plans, elevations, and product specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage emotionally sensitive or overwhelmed customers with grace and empathy.
  • Highly organized and proficient in digital documentation tools, with strong attention to detail.
  • A calming, positive presence with the ability to maintain energy and professionalism across multiple full-day appointments.
